Why did you choose Rwanda for the 2016 evangelistic meetings?

Questions & Answers February 5, 2016

Q: Pastor Wilson, I have two questions regarding your mission outreach in Rwanda and the world at large: 1) What motivated you to choose Rwanda for the May 2016 evangelistic meetings? 2) Will the same outreach take place across the globe using the same methodology being deployed in Rwanda? — Muramutsa Matthieu

A. I am so very glad you asked about outreach in Rwanda. Jesus has told us in Matthew 28:18-20 that we (His followers) are to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you …”

The Rwanda evangelistic thrust is 2,200 meetings all across the wonderful country of Rwanda, thus fulfilling a part of the gospel commission!

I will preach one of the 2,200 meetings, joining laymen and pastors from Rwanda and other parts of God’s vineyard. Why will I go and preach? Because Jesus tells me to; because it is a life changing experience every time I have the wonderful opportunity to preach the “Truth as it is in Jesus”; because I should as a leader be willing to model and do what I ask others to do; and finally, I believe all God’s people need to get involved in telling others about Jesus before Jesus will come. We call this Total Member Involvement!

My prayer is that the same kind of evangelistic outreach that is happening this year in Rwanda will take place in all countries around the world.

Every year leaders here at the General Conference will focus on a different country — Romania in 2017, Japan in 2018, India in 2019, and Papua New Guinea and Indianapolis, Indiana, in the United States in 2020. But every year many, many others will be involved in the countries of the world proclaiming the Three Angels’ Messages so that finally Jesus’ work will be finished on planet Earth and He will come.
