What is Total Member Involvement?

Questions & Answers October 2, 2015

Q: At the 2015 General Conference Session in San Antonio, you mentioned something called “Total Member Involvement.” Could you please explain what that is?

A: Yes! Actually, total member involvement is nothing new. It started with Jesus giving the Great Commission (found in Matthew 28) to his followers. For many centuries, Christians have taken this commission seriously and personally to reach people individually. Only within the last century has the idea that it is only the paid, professional minister who carries the main responsibility of soul-winning. But nowhere do we find that idea in the Bible. Every follower of Christ is given the responsibility of reaching out to people — individually — with the hope that we ourselves have found in a soon coming Savior.
