Q: I long to share my faith, but sometimes people say, “My religion is for me, and your religion is for you, so don’t try to convert me.” Others question the truth of the Bible and ask for proof. How do I prove the reliability of the Bible? Is there any guidance to follow? — Hanna, from Indonesia
A: Hanna, I’m glad to hear that you care about others and have a desire to share your faith with them. This is what Total Member Involvement is all about — everyone, everywhere, doing something for Jesus!
In this post-modern world, however, it can sometimes be challenging, especially when for so many truth is simply relative. Nevertheless, Jesus’ commission and promise found in Matthew 28:19-20 still applies to us today: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
I encourage you to read an article that I think you will find very helpful, “What’s to Believe About the Bible? An Honest Look at Biblical Authority.” Written by Dr. Clinton Wahlen, associate director at the Biblical Research Institute, this article, published in the Adventist Review, looks at the nature and source of biblical authority, evidence for the Bible’s authority (including archeology), and more. Stay close to Jesus, keep studying, and be encouraged that He is right beside you as you share your love for Him with others!
